In Sri Lanka’s Raksha mask heritage, the Naga represents the serpent — a powerful, protective force — while the Gurulu is the great mythical bird traditionally seen as its rival. This hybrid design brings the two together, reflecting the creativity of today’s Sri Lankan mask makers.

Hand-Carved and Hand-Painted in Sri Lanka

Each mask is carved by hand from lightweight Kaduru wood, the timber traditionally used for Sri Lankan masks, and painted by hand with fine linework on the face and serpent forms.

As every piece is individually made, small differences in carving, colour and detail are natural and make each mask unique.

Care Instructions

Dust gently with a clean, soft, dry cloth or soft-bristled brush. Avoid water, chemical cleaning products, excessive humidity and prolonged direct sunlight. Handle by the centre of the mask, not the cobra heads. Recommended for indoor display.
